Dear Madison County Community Leaders,

Since 2014, Ivy River Partners and its supporters have removed over 24,000 pounds of trash from Madison County watersheds. Now Litter Free Madison County and Ivy River Partners have teamed up to launch an initiative which aims to include ALL Madison County individuals who are organizing to reduce litter on roadsides and in our streams/creeks/rivers. Here’s how we can work together:

  1. If you are already organizing in your neighborhood, we would love to hear your results! The more data we can collect, the more resources we are able to acquire to stretch the impact!

  2. If you would like to start organizing cleanups, we have developed a packet that includes all of the community resources, such as adopt-a-stream, adopt-a-highway, litter sweep, and independent community cleanups.

We are also happy to help with any of the following:

  1. flyers design/printing for you to distribute to neighbors’ mailboxes, community boards, churches, etc.

  2. clean-up gloves, waders (if needed), trash bags, trash grabbers, and safety vests

  3. liability waivers/safety tips/blank clean up reports

  4. appropriate contact for trash pick-up

  5. other promotion if applicable

If we can work together on these issues, we can see real results. Contact Whitney Mitchell or Mariah Hughes if you are interested or to let us know what you are already doing in your neighborhood so we can collect data from around the county. Thank you for all you do in our community and for partnering with us to keep Madison County healthy and beautiful!

Ivy River Partners hosts multiple river clean-ups per year. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we have collected multiple tons of trash out of our waterways.  We partner with landowners, concerned communities, churches, businesses, and new/existing volunteers to remove trash from Madison County watersheds. In 2016 and 2017, we have held clean-ups at the Laurel River, Shelton Laurel River, and multiple sites on the Ivy River.

Do you have concerns for a local waterway and think it would be a good site for a clean-up? Contact us at info@ivyriverpartners.org or call 828-206-6159
